Zill Mufflers Pattern

Sorry it's been a awhile since I last blogged, it's been a odd few months....my energies have been up, down & all around!
Anyway........
The bellydance class I attend will be doing a zills dance for next term so I've spoiled myself with my own set of zills.
I'm totally in love with them, however, living in a flat I don't think my neighbors would be too happy with "ting ting-a-ting ting ting" at all hours so I decided to make some mufflers.
There are some really cute patterns for free out there including this gorgeous knitted set, but sadly my knitting skills aren't that great. That & the vast majority of patterns include elastic.
Well I don't have any elastic & I want to play now god dammit!!
So I've come up with a pattern that doesn't involve using any elastic.  Really quick. Really easy!

 Muffler untied.

Terminology (UK)

Video of how to magic circle here

Tr - Treble

Tr dec - treble decrease video example here

Sl st - slip stitch

Ch - Chain

Sp - space

sts - stitches

Materials

2.5mm hook

Sorry I don't know the size of thread, but I've included the ball of thread with a hook I used, above, so hopefully you can gauge roughly the size of thread.

My zills are 5.5cm, but I'm sure a slightly larger set could be fitted into the mufflers, if not simply go up a hook size until you get the right size :)

  1. Magic circle
  2. Ch 3 (count as first tr). 14tr into circle & join to top of ch3 (15sts)
  3. Ch 3 (count as first tr). Tr dec into next 2 sts. . *Ch 5. Tr dec into next 3 sts.* Repeat from * around. Sl st together (5 points & 5 chains)
  4. Ch3 (count as first tr). 2 tr into base stitch of ch3. *5 tr into 5 ch sp, 3tr into top of 3tr dec.* Repeat from * round. Sl st together (40sts)
  5. Ch 3 (count as first tr). Tr into each tr of previous rnd. (20sts) Do NOT join. Ch 15 & tie off. If you join here you won't be able to fit it over your zill.

6.      Slip the zill into the muffler & weave the Ch15 into the first gap & tie closed. Any annoying tail can just be tucked in to the muffler or weaved through the gaps. Not as neat as using elastic I know, but it'll do!

7.      I'll more than likely do an elasticated version in the future (when I can afford to buy some elastic that is! lol), so keep an eye out!

8.      Like with all my patterns, I don't mind you selling what you make or sharing this pattern, just please do NOT sell this pattern & please give credit where credit is due. Thanks. :)

Hooked up a quick swatch with the chart so you can see it crocheted. Made a wee mistake on the snake, but I'm sure you'll forgive me for it :)

Kids Kitty Hat

At last I have finally got round to writing out the kitty hat pattern....I'm so sorry it's taken so long, hopefully it's worth the wait :)
It's kids size, for a bigger hat just add a few more inc rounds, in the hat until it's big enough for you & an extra increase row or two in the ears so that they don't look too small! Or you could always go for a thick Aran wool & bigger hook!

Needed

4.5mm hook

Black felt

Yellow felt

White wool (4ply)

A little black wool

Embellishment of your choice (button, flower, ribbon, etc)

Crochet Goddess Doll Pattern

This is a simple design that can be left plain like the above image or easily decorated. It’s up to you. I originally wrote the design with children in mind. I think the arms are perfect to use as a handle, but it can easily be made for adults. Think of what it is going to be used for. It can be used like a poppet to represent a person or a specfic Goddess, an element, in a ritual,  etc.
Go with what feels right & let your imagination soar!

This pattern is written in UK terminology

Sl st – slip stitch

Ch – chain

Dc – Double crochet   (sc in US terminology)

Inc – Increase (2dc into 1 stitch)

Dec – Decrease (2 dc’s stitched together)

Gauge/hook size not important.

Equipment:

Stuffing

Darning needle

(*Stuff as you crochet...the more the better as it will help retain the shape of the doll. It will be quite firm.* )

Start of head

Rnd 1: Starting with the head, 7dc into a magic ring. Sl st together. Ch1. End all rounds in this way.

Rnd 2: inc into each st around. (14)

Rnd 3: dc, inc. Repeat round. (21)

Rnd 4: 2 dc, inc. Repeat around (28)

Rnd 5: dc in each st around. (28)

Rnd 6: 3 dc, inc . Repeat around. (35)

Rnd 7-10: dc in each st around. (35)

Rnd 11: 3dc, dec. Repeat around. (28)

Rnd 12: dc in each st around. (28)

Rnd 13: 2dc, dec. Repeat around. (21)

Rnd 14: dc, dec. Repeat around. (14)

Rnd 15: dec in each st around (7)

Stuff  tightly.

Start of torso

Rnd16: inc into each st around. (14)

Rnd 26: 3dc, dec. Repeat around. (28)

Rnd 27: dc around. (28)

Rnd 28-29: 2dc, dec. Repeat around. (16)

Stuff tightly

Start of bottom

Rnd 30: inc into each st around.(32)

Rnd 31: 3dc into single st, 1dc in next st. Repeat around. (64)

Rnd 32-39: dc around. (64)

Rnd 40: 6dc, dec. Repeat around. (56)

Rnd 41: dc around. (56)

Rnd 42: 8dc, dec around. Dc in last 2dc. (50)

Rnd 43: 7dc, dec around. Dc in last 2dc. (44)

Rnd 44: 6dc, dec around. Dc in last 2dc. (38)

Rnd 49: 2dc, dec. Repeat around. (7)

Rnd 50: dc, dec. Repeat around. Dc in last dc. (5)

Rnd 51:dec around until bottom is closed. Fasten off securely leaving a length of wool. By pulling on this it will help shape the bottom. Weave into the bottom.

Arms

Ch 60.

Dc in each st for 12 rows.

Whip stitch sides together.

Stuff tightly. Use plenty of stuffing. The more the better.  Use a knitting needle/pencil to push the stuffing into the crocheted tube.

Position the end of the arms two rows down from the neck, making a curved arch over the head.

(This could easily be altered so the arms are facing down, making a embracing position.)

·         Optional extras

  •      Herbs – these can be placed in with the stuffing
  •      Embellishments -Some suggestions
  • Shells for water
  • Feathers for air
  • Flowers for earth
  • Red beads/sequins for fire
  • Silver/white glitter for the spirit.     Use a colour of wool to correspond to a specific element.
  • Fill a small lidded tub (such as a Kinder Egg) with beads, rice etc. Glue round the lid & place in doll while stuffing to create a rattle
  •     Thread beads onto wool before you crochet. Slip a bead into each stitch for a round, to create a necklace of beads. Stitched on beads have a tenacity of coming loose. Not good if you plan to give the doll to a child. This way the beads will only come off if the beads break.
  • Stitch on sigils, runes etc

PLEASE do NOT sell this pattern. You are free to sell the completed dolls. If this is seen for sale anywhere please report the seller & let me know. Thank you .

I would LOVE to see any dolls hooked up, so if you make one (or more) please take a picture & I'll happily add it here to share with others. :)

If there are any problems with the pattern (mistakes etc) feel free to leave a comment & I'll do my best to help you out!

A Wooly Wonderland!

I've finally got round to redoing my crocheted Goddess Doll. I have to say I think this one is much better than the previous one.
I'm currently getting the pattern tested by a pair of angels on Flickr, so keep your eyes peeled, it maybe up soon.

I've left it really plain so it can be decorated & made however you wish. Make it really personal!

I've been over at WolfDreamers blog again. She has a ton of AWESOME free patterns,
Recently she's been offering her buy only patterns for free for a week & as soon as I saw her snowman, I knew I had to make him. Unfortunately he's no longer available for free, but it's still cheap!
I made a few changes (you know me, always having to put my on spin on things I make!). I left off the arms & added a cute little Christmas sign. Just a twig & a message from a Christmas card making kit.
I think he's SO cute!
I'm currently making Wolfdreamers The Angel and Devil Chubbies. Hurry it's only available free until tonight!
They are so sweet, you can't help but make a pair!

Crochet Roses

I make these whenever I have an amount of wool that isn't really enough for anything. They're really easy, super quick & I think quite cute. It could be used for a finishing touch for a hat, bag, scarf etc or like I have in the photograph, like real flowers in a vase. If you use wire, like I did, for the stem you can twist the stem to just about anything. Let your imagination play! :)
Gauge, wool etc not important.
In UK terms
ch- chain
tr- treble
Pattern
Rnd 1- tr into 4th ch from hook. (tr, ch, tr) in each ch across
Rnd 2- 3ch, tr, ch 2 tr into first ch space. (2tr, ch, 2tr) into each space across
Rnd 3- 3ch, 8tr into 1st ch space, 9tr into each space across
Fasten off
Starting at one end, roll the piece, stitching in place as you roll.

To make a wire stem
For a stem I used a length of green garden wireYou can buy this really cheaply in a roll at any garden or household shop
Cut a long length & fold in half. Push both ends through the flower so the bend is hidden in the flower. Twist the wire a few times to secure in place. Take one of the two pieces of wire & bend in half to make a leaf. Twist the remaining wire together

***This pattern cannot be sold. For personnal use only.***
If there are any problems or mistakes within the pattern please let me know & I'll change or help you out ASAP.
If you make this, please send me a link to a photo of your finished flower. It would be cool to see what you all come up with :)

Petagram Chart

I've FINALLY got round to uploading the chart I made.
Feel free to use it for your crochet, knitting, beadwork, cross stistch etc! ^____^

I made both this hanging & bag from this chart.
All I did was crochet two squares following the chart & stitching three of the sides together. Used a length of cotton cord for the handle & made two tassels. Simples!
I also stitched over the design with more black wool to make the design more bold looking, not vital but I think it makes it a bit more clearer.

Examples of others work using the chart can be seen
